They Met On The Platform

Six years ago at the TRE Bell Station in Hurst, two daily rail commuters noticed each other and on subsequent days began a conversation that led to a relationship. Fast forward to today. James McNeil and Beth Leamon asked Trinity Metro if they could get married at the Bell Station on Sunday, October 17th. Permission was happily granted and I was asked to be there to take a few photos for Trinity Metro’s social media.

A few days before the ceremony the wedding photographer had to cancel for personal reasons and the couple was put in a tough spot. Knowing my background includes a great deal of wedding photography, my supervisor at Trinity Metro volunteered that I would probably be glad to step in and fill that role. I quickly dampened their anxiety and so everything was a go on the 17th.

For safety, Herzog sent out a foreman that all trains had to contact by radio before passing through the station. During the ceremony we had one TRE train and Amtrak 22 pass by eastbound in the background, so I did double duty as a train and wedding photographer!

Here are a few of the post ceremony photos. I did not think of it at the time, but I should have gotten on the radio and asked the engineer to open his window and wave back at James and Beth in the last photo. Oh well.

The story was subsequently picked up by People Magazine and some of my photos were used with credit thanks to Trinity Metro. For as long as it works, here is a link to their article:
