101 Years of Canadian National

Today Sunday the 27th I raced over to the UP Baird Sub just a few minutes from the house to catch the westbound Fort Worth to Monahans, Texas manifest train. The lead unit was one of Canadian National’s batch of 100th Anniversary locomotives from last year celebrating the railroad’s founding in 1919.

Luckily I checked the camera after hearing the train blow for the crossing at the east end of Iona siding as I had forgotten to put the memory card back in it. The modern equivalent of forgetting to put film in the camera which I did no occasion many years ago. I rectified this mistake about 30 seconds before taking this photo.

A close up a few seconds later.

Overall I was gone from the house for about 20 minutes; definitely one of my shortest railfan trips in a long time!
