Taken on Tuesday October 25th in 2022, here is a small selection of photos between Winona and Flagstaff starting in the morning. First up is an eastbound train with a rare single unit on Main One passing West Darling.
Next up is another eastbound train on Main Two with the mountain background taken just west of West Darling.
In the back country between West Darling and Cosnino, two road units are seen eastbound running light back to Winslow.
I sent the drone up for these coming and going views of a westbound on Main Two.
A few hundred yards east of the grade crossing at Cosnino an eastbound is coming into the cut on Main One at milepost 333.
Turning around and hey, here is the not that unusual sight of two trains meeting on the Southern Transcon as a westbound is streaking down Main Two.
Getting close to Flagstaff, here is a drone view of an eastbound train. I40 is just out of sight to the left in this view as I inadvertently caught myself on camera.
Another drone view of an eastbound train, this time passing through the east side of Flagstaff.
One final view for this day of a westbound freight accelerating past the Flagstaff depot which still serves Amtrak today.
