The afternoon of Saturday September 13, 2025 found Judy and I along with friend Harry Stinson from Nashville searching for BNSF trains passing through Brenham, Texas. We had driven down that morning for a Saturday night performance by friend Marty Stuart and the three Superlatives of which Harry is one-third. The railroad radio alerted us to two northbound trains on the way. The AT&SF passenger station is no longer standing but the freight house is in excellent shape as a private business.

One block south of the freight house is the old Southern Pacific diamond crossing still used by BNSF for occasional traffic to and from the Blue Bell Ice Cream factory. At 2:31 pm a northbound train is seen crossing the Brenham Interlocker.

Not far behind at 2:50 pm was a northbound empty coal train with a Norfolk Southern leader.

Two DPU’s including another NS locomotive cruised by a few minutes later.

Nothing else appeared to be close, so we went to dinner followed by what is always a great show. Afterwards we all visited while the crew packed the gear back into the bus and trailer before departing on an overnight run back to Nashville. Judy and I spent the night and headed back to Aledo on Sunday morning. Passing through Navasota we paused for a southbound UP rock train.

Driving through Hearne I spotted an ex-Cotton Belt GP60 working as the yard switcher.

All things considered a great weekend!!
