On July 19, 2023, I drove to Cleburne to meet friend Jeremy Krauss who was coming up from Temple on Amtrak 22 and going back on Amtrak 21. I arrived early a liitle after noon and caught a northbound freight passing the depot at 12:34 pm.
The second unit was a Ferromex SD70ACe.
Amtrak 22 pulled in a bit late at 1:23 pm.
The trailing unit was Amtrak engine 203 wrapped as their 50th Anniversary “Operation Lifesaver” unit.
I have not heard of this unit leading through our area so these trailing photos will have to do for now. After Train 22 pulled out, I drove around to the depot to pick up Jeremy while another northbound freight came by.
Jeremy and I went to lunch and were back at the depot for Train 21’s late arrival at 3:45 pm. Locomotive 62 looks like it has already been involved several accidents.
Jeremy’s train pulled out southbound and right behind it was the Cleburne Local back from Fort Worth. The power pulled past me so they could back into the yard.
Leading was an older GP35 unit rebuilt by BNSF into what they designate a GP39-3 number 2682.
Behind that was a pair of GP60’s, numbers 198 and 192.
Trailing was BNSF 3106, originally a GP50 rebuilt into what BNSF designates a GP39-2.
After the local was in the clear, at 4:35 pm a northbound BNSF / KCS intermodal passed by northbound.
A good visit with a friend and some good train catches!
