UP 1943 West on Labor Day

Early on Monday September 6th I got word a westbound UP intermodal was getting ready to leave Fort Worth with the UP 1943 Veterans Unit leading. Even though the sun angle would mean mainly backlit photos I decided to catch it twice, the first time climbing the grade to Iona Siding where UP had cleared out all the brush to facilitate rebuilding the “S” curve here. Here is that view at 8:54 am.

I easily beat the slow moving train to Aledo where the side lighting was better at 9:08 am.

With this quick catch close to home accomplished I enjoyed the rest of Labor Day at leisure.
