Freight Train Action at Dallas Union Station

Freight Train Action at Dallas Union Station

These days Dallas Union Station is known as the Eddie Bernice Johnson Union Station to honor a influential Texas politician. I had a photo assignment there on May 20th and within a few hours managed to catch a few freight trains on the adjacent UP Dallas Sub. First up at 8:44 am was an eastbound Dallas, Garland & Northeastern local.

A westbound intermodal rolled by at 9:25 am.

Followed shortly by a westbound merchandise train at 9:39 am.

At 10:09 am an eastbound merchandise rolled through with two freshly delivered units from the Wabtec plant in Justin.

GP38-2 number 710 put in an appearance eastbound at 10:20 am.

Before taking the TRE back to Fort Worth, I caught one more eastbound intermodal train with an SD70ACe leading at 10:31 am.

Six freight moves in a little more than two hours is not bad, especially if you include all the passenger activity just out of sight to the right.
