This Year’s Bluebonnets

This Year’s Bluebonnets

Last year in 2024 we had several very thick patches of bluebonnets near the track on FWWR’s Dublin Sub east of Cresson. This year I headed back that way on April 13th to see if that was also true for this Spring. I quickly learned there were much fewer bluebonnets this year that could be worked into a photo with a train. This patch of flowers just west of FM 2331 along Winscott Plover Road was the best I could do with a westbound train.

It was easy to stay ahead of the train for a few more photos on the way to Cresson. One of the ex-UP SD60M’s was leading.

Easily beating the train to Cresson I caught it for the last time at the west end of the Cleburne wye as it was about to cross US Highway 377.

The signals here have been dark and decommissioned since this trackage was sold by the AT&SF many years ago.
