On 2025/03/21 the UP’s M-K-T heritage locomotive #1988 paid north Texas an early morning visit. I knew the locomotive was fairly dirty, but the sun was out, so I decided to catch it once in a good spot. It left Fort Worth westbound around 10:00 am with the sun behind it. I picked up Luke Meacham and we decided to head to Milsap west of Weatherford where the UP Baird Sub runs northeast to southwest.
This brought the sun around to the side of the unit, and we lined up our photos a few minutes after noon as the intermodal train rolled through town.
A nice red barn in the background complimented the red locomotive.
If the engine had been cleaner, we would have gone on ahead to Judd or Gordon, but this day it was one and done.
