Two daily trains that do not stop at any of the intermediate stations on the Trinity Railway Rxpress between Dallas Fort Worth are Amtrak’s Texas Eagles. Up until several years ago when contracts were finalized, The Texas Eagles running both ways between Chicago and San Antonio used the UP ex-T&P mainline between Dallas and Fort Worth along with numerous freight trains. Delays to Amtrak trains were a daily occurrence, so once the TRE rebuilt the ex-Burlington-Rock Island into a 79-mph corridor, Amtrak negotiated trackage rights to run in designated “windows” between TRE commuter trains.

In this photo taken on May 7th, 2024, we see westbound Amtrak Train 21 passing the new Trinity Lakes Station opened on February 19th, 2024, in far east Fort Worth. A few short blasts of the horn warn TRE passengers to stand back as this train is not slowing down, let alone stopping until it arrives at Fort Worth Central Station!
