Back in 2009, not long after the startup of the Trinity Railway Express, seven Canadian ex-GO Transit F59PH’s were purchased to pull commuter trains between Dallas and Fort Worth. Two F59PHI’s (isolated cabs) were added not long afterwards, and the motive power fleet of nine units stayed the same until 2022 when two ex-Amtrak F40PH’s were purchased form Larry’s Truck and Electric. These last two units were overhauled and redesignated F40PH-3’s. Here is number 131 pulling a TRE train westbound leaving Central Station.
These units still look fresh and clean, but in the next year or two all eleven units are due to be replaced with new Siemens Charger locomotives.
