One photo I wanted but had not accomplished in my previous several trips out here was to catch a westbound train at the Maine crossovers between Flagstaff and Williams. When I finished up work on Wednesday October 26th in 2022 I was close enough that I stopped at Maine to try my luck. With that goal in mind it did not start well that the first two trains were back-to-back eastbounds on Main One.
Then, after waiting an hour, my luck improved on Main Two.
My final photo of the day included the crossovers, the fir trees, and the mountains above Flagstaff in the distance.
I arrived back in Flagstaff for an early dinner and time to get a good night’s rest anticipating one more day’s work before heading home.
