Two Westbounds With Foreign Power

Two Westbounds With Foreign Power

I spent some time on BNSF’s Southern Transcon in Kansas on August 02, 2023, and managed to catch two westbounds with all foreign power. In the morning at 10:44 am I caught this bare table train between Bazaar and Matfield Green powered by a CSX AC4400CW number 391 decaled as the “Spirit of Dante” (West Virginia) and CEFX AC 4400CW number 1032.

Stopped just west of Bazaar I was ready to head back to El Dorado for the night when at 4:11 pm this westbound intermodal raced past me with a pair of Norfolk Southern ES44DC’s

I tried to overtake the train to photograph it again in Cassoday, but at 4:32 pm this was the best I could manage from the shoulder of Kansas 177.

I hopped onto the Kansas Turnpike and this time I easily beat the train to the Myers Road overpass at the west entrance to El Dorado Lake.

A bit of variety amidst a sea of orange and black locomotives!
