Indian Blankets at Iona

Indian Blankets at Iona

On May 14th, 2024, I was driving along Aledo Road less than ten minutes from home when I spotted a patch of Indian Blanket wildflowers a few feet from the east end of UP’s Iona siding a few miles west of Fort Worth. While spring wildflowers are numerous in Texas, not as many grow close enough to railroad tracks to include in a train photo. I decided to pull over on the road’s shoulder and wait a few minutes to see if any trains were nearby.

This time I was lucky in that within 30 minutes a westbound intermodal train left Fort Worth and was caught struggling up the hill past my location a few minutes later. With my adventure in vertical composition finished here, I headed on to run a few errands.
