May 22, 2023, was a great day even though I photographed just one train. The lead unit of a southbound BNSF train I caught at Crawford, Texas was BNSF number 729 still painted and lettered in its original scheme except for the BNSF stencil. Just using a bit of imagination and ignoring the trailing unit will take you back 25 years.



Units that still say “Santa Fe” on the nose and look this good are getting rare.
