My friend Zane Ferguson and his mom came to Fort Worth from New Braunfels on Sunday May 7, 2023 to see some trains, and I made plans to meet them at the TEXRail Northside Station around 1:00 pm. On the way there I managed to catch a northbound BNSF train in Saginaw led by a warbonnet DASH 9-44CW number 718.
I arrived at the station at 1:00 pm to meet with Zane and his mother and Zane’s friend Aaron Brown. We all photographed a westbound TEXRail at 1:18 pm as it slowed for a stop.
At 1:53 pm the same train set was coming into the station heading east as I managed this close up view of Zane framing up his photo.
The Grapevine Vintage Railroad’s weekend passenger train to the Stockyards passed by us westbound at 2:07 pm on FWWR’s track adjacent to TEXRail.
I swiveled along with the moving train and first caught Zane getting his photo.
Next it was Aaron Brown’s turn to be captured.
When the train left the Stockyards at 3:00 pm to make its round trip to the Trinity River, we were in position just north of Northside Drive.
Our next and final location together was at the now permanently closed grade crossing at North Commerce Street as the train came back north a few minutes later.
I normally try to keep pole lines from protruding above a locomotive, but in this case, I wanted to show our location in relation to downtown Fort Worth.
And finally, the going away photo of the train in what looks like a rural setting instead of being in a metropolitan area.
Now it was time to say goodbye to my friends for this visit after capturing some nice train photos.
