On Friday May 28th the skies were once again overcast as I had to make a trip to the post office and CVS Pharmacy in Aledo. Crossing the UP Baird Sub in Aledo I saw a green signal for an eastbound train at 4:05 pm.

I quickly parked and took this photo a minute before an eastbound led by an SD70ACe came steadily uphill towards Iona.

I heard on the radio this train would be taking the siding at Iona for three westbounds, so I decided to stick around. At 4:20 pm I captured the UP 6280 west with an intermodal train.

Thirty minutes later at 5:10 pm the UP 6210 led a second westbound intermodal through Aledo.

The Baird Sub dispatcher was talking to the third westbound about to leave Davidson Yard and I heard the lead unit identified as the UP 1989, the Rio Grande heritage unit. I drove to the spot where the west end of the Iona siding used to be before it was extended. At 5:51 pm the UP 1989 passed by with a merchandise train.

I have caught this unit many times before, but I like this paint scheme.
