On Saturday May 8th I received word the UP Veteran’s locomotive SD70ACe number 1943 was leading a northbound manifest train up the Fort Worth Sub. I decided to run over to Burleson after I heard it had left Hillsboro and set up with fellow railfan Luke Meacham and his dad at the south end of downtown. First up was an empty coal train at one minute past noon.
Babe’s Chicken looked most appealing, but the UP 1943 was not far behind at 12:25 pm.
Mission accomplished, us railfans headed back home to Aledo.
