On Monday May 24th, Amtrak 21 and 22 the “Texas Eagle” are supposed to start returning to daily service in each direction between Chicago and San Antonio. To facilitate this, today’s May 22nd southbound Amtrak 21 had two units and nine cars in a repositioning move to San Antonio.
I drove over to Joshua to catch the train thinking I had left the house with plenty of time to spare, but as soon as I parked and stepped out with the camera to compose the shot I heard the familiar K5LA blowing at the north end of town. I barely had time before the train flew by at 70+ mph.
I turned to the left and barely had time to frame up for this going away view.
Maybe I will get back out on Monday to record the first day with two passenger trains through Joshua in a long time.
